The Eclipse Night club in Truro has been the Saturday Night gay venue in Cornwall for over eight years. At one time, it was an absolutely bumping gay venue and one of the best gay club venue nights out anywhere on the UK gay scene. I personally have had some truly great nights there. (God, I even remember when it was a swimming pool & later an antiques market on the site!)


The Eclipse even having hosted several regional Mr Gay UK contests (NB: of which I actually came fourth place locally despite my being the oldest Mr Gay UK contestant in Britain that year. An old fool perhaps? ...No, not really. I was the only one to remember to take baby oil! Which meant all the cute fit young men contestants half my age who wanted to get greased up & shiny pecs had to be very nice to me whilst getting undressed downstairs... besides it was MY baby oil so I got to apply it on those lithe fit young men and in all the necessary places...chuckle, so now who is an old fool ?)

However, I'd hardly stepped foot in BarQdos” gay bar last night when I was informed the Eclipse Club was definitely closing. Then I was informed it was in the local newspapers as Eclipse being up for sale...well after that, the rumours came thick and fast. Having had a pleasant early pre-club drinks at BarQudos our party moved onto the Eclipse where we had a really good evening.

Cornwall Gay Club Closure? An Update!

Further to reports and rumours following anouncements by the DJ in the Eclipse, the Cornwall gay nightclub, that they were not closing ’that week’ and bubbling rumours in other venues of the closure of the Eclipse Nightclub Truro, here is an email from the Eclipse themselves.
